2021 SEAWOLF Red Triangle Zinfandel Mendocino

We conclude our spring allocation with our much anticipated 2021 SEAWOLF Wines Mendocino Red Triangle Zinfandel. The Red Triangle is a colloquial name of a roughly triangle-shaped region extending from Bodega Bay, out slightly beyond the Farallon Islands, and the Big Sur region. The Red Triangle is not only home to a very large population of marine mammals and their top predator, the Great White Shark, but also coincidentally has some of the greatest surf breaks in northern California.

As winemakers, we wanted to offer a wine that does not constrain our desire to create a new experience with each vintage. The 2021 vintage heralds from a single vineyard planted nearly 80 years ago to mixed blacks with the core of the varieties being Zinfandel. Only a single barrel made, this wine has enticing aromas of fragrant crushed black raspberry, violet, and Santa Rosa plum. Full bodied and elegantly structured with a superb core of ripe fruit and underlying minerality. Bottled both unfined and unfiltered.
